    Education Crisis Response ( ECR )

    This intervention was meant to expand access to quality non-formal education to children (aged 6-17) affected by crisis rendering them internally displaced and children of their host communities. It also strived to increase learning performance on literacy, numeracy and socio-emotional learning and provision of a safe learning environment. DEC worked with 2,100 displaced children in 42 communities in Bauchi state.

    Northern Education Initiative Plus ( NEI+ )

    The project was designed to provide access to basic education to vulnerable children and adolescents in Bauchi and Sokoto states in Nigeria. To achieve this, the intervention improved the leadership and management structures of local communities for effective coordination and governance; increased staff capacity for proper management and enhanced organizational efficiency. DEC worked with 4,200 children in 81 communities in Bauchi state.

    Social and political empowerment of women in northern Nigeria

    84 communities spread across 7 states- Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Kebbi, Benue, Jigawa and Nasarawa states with improved access to education and livelihood opportunities for women and girls; increased awareness and management of public health issues, including maternal and child health; access to safe, clean water and sanitation; and increased participation in peacebuilding processes.

    Pro-Resilience Action ( PROACT )

    Livelihood and food security
    A tri-partite partnership involving the EU, Oxfam and DEC to improve food security, nutrition and resilience of vulnerable groups in Kebbi and Adamawa states-with DEC implementing in Kebbi state. To achieve this, the project will strengthen the productive capacities and governance of the agricultural sector by enhancing the capacity of the local government; building the capacity of smallholder farmers and their associations to play policy influencing roles; increasing food reserves through supporting farmers’ access to agricultural input and technologies; and enhancing the purchasing power of vulnerable populations through integrated cash transfers.

    Socio-economic empowerment for communities in northern Nigeria

    An integrated 5-sectored intervention (livelihood, health, education, environment including water & sanitation and good governance. It is expected that 15 benefitting communities (5 each from Bauchi, Kano, and Kebbi states) will have improved and sustainable livelihood; access to education especially for girls and basic literacy for women; improved maternal and child care; access to safe water, sanitation and environments; increased women participation in grassroots leadership, ability to resolve inter and intra-communal conflicts and participatory communal efforts in environmental sustenance.
